upstate learning

The aim of Upstate Learning is to work in partnership with statutory, community and industry bodies to develop an indigenous skill and methodology base in various aspects of drama by:

  • Mentoring and short term foundation training on ongoing productions and community programmes
  • Developing drama and theatre modules and inputs for recognised educational bodies
  • Developing equality awareness modules (disability, gender etc.) for in house and external training

New York University

Upstate is a field-teaching partner of The Steinhardt School at New York University, which is one of the foremost research and teaching schools in the now-internationally recognized practice of "Community Engaged Theatre". For the past six years a group of postgraduate students of the Steinhardt School have spent a day in Drogheda learning about the work of Upstate in a very hands–on way. In 2010 Millmount Craft Centre in Drogheda hosted the group of students.
